Week 2: So you have plans for me, huh?
Jeremiah 29: 11 says “For I know the plans I have for,” says the LORD, “Plans to prosper, not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.”
So if God has plans to prosper us, why do we seem to always been in so much hurt? Why is there so much pain in this world if God’s plans are “to give us a future and a hope.” What do you guys think? So many people ask that question. What do you have to say to them?
I mean, sure there are the typical answers of “Well, God isn’t the only force working here.” But is there an answer beyond that? Is there ever purpose in the pain?

The story throughout the Bible over and over is that God is victorious and overcomes the world. This should give us hope to know that with God we too will be victorious. I live in a small town in lower Alabama, Enterprise. It’s claim to fame is a statue of a bug in the center of town – a Boll Weevil. In the early 1900′s the Boll Weevil came through the area and destroyed the cotton crop (the main cash crop in the area). The destruction of cotton crop caused the farmers to re-evaluate and look for other crops. They began to grow peanuts, which was a much better crop and made them more money than cotton ever did. The farmers decided to honor the Boll Weevil for causing them to let go of cotton and grab hold of something better. Many times the adversity in our lives cause us to grow stronger in our faith and allows us the opportunity to grab hold of something better that God has in store for us. James 1:2-4 comes to mind…Count it all joy…
